Do Cleanses Actually Work? The Truth About Detoxing

Cleansing can be a very effective tool for detoxifying the body. The problem is, not all cleanses are created equally. If you’re feeling:

-spacey, brain fog, unfocused-digestive issues-heavy, sluggish, lethargic

-break outs, stinky BO

-joint pain, fatigue It might be time to investigate what removing some excess toxins from the body could look like. But beware- you want to complete a cleanse feeling light, energized, and renewed. Not sick, tired, and in worse shape than when you started!

The Problem With Extreme Cleanses

Modern day crash diets will wreck your metabolism. Most “fasting” doesn’t include proper guidance on how to protect your microbiome during the process and gradually reintroduce food. And worst of all, none of these approaches include mindset and mental health considerations, or guidance on how to deal with the emotional and spiritual gunk that will inevitably resurface as well. Without proper rebuilding after a cleanse, your immune system will be compromised, you can lose a sense of grounded-ness, and your gut health will suffer. These cleanses can be really harsh and do more harm than good.

The Ayurvedic Approach to Cleansing (Gentle, Nourishing, Effective!)In the Ayurvedic world, we tend to think more about deeply nourishing the body with clean, whole foods, doing less, stoking the digestive fire, and creating the right environment for the body to naturally want to clean house. Instead of forcing our body into starvation or survival mode, we simply create the correct conditions for our body to begin a process it already knows how to do- detox. Our overstimulating, toxin ridden modern lifestyle just normally gets in the way of the body being able to do this job. That’s what I’ll be teaching in my Community based Ayurveda Spring Cleanse.
